Entering our ninth season of producing original work, Manhattan Theatre Works (MTWorks) is proud to present RE-WORKS: THE FABULOUS 80s. Two plays by Monica Bauer and Duncan Pflaster, inspired by the art and music of the 1980s. Directed by Dev Bondarin and Isaac Scranton.

SARAH: mid 20’s, prima ballerina of an important, but second tier, American ballet company.
JAKE: late 20’s, closeted ballet dancer, supposedly married to Sarah, heralded for his particularly “masculine” style of ballet
BABS: 50’s, newspaper reporter for the Kansas City Star, stuck her entire career in the “Women’s Section”, but with the heart of a real reporter.
MICKEY: 40’s, former ballet dancer turned choreographer, head of the Ballerinas des Monterey, a dance troupe where gay men dance as women in parodies of famous ballets (like the Trocs). Jake’s first lover.
MANDY: 40’s, Prima of the Ballerinas des Monterey who’s too old to dance anymore

JENNY: Female, late teens, naïve and sweet.
PETRA: Female, late teens, a wild child with a punk hairdo.
MADDIE: Female, 40s-50s, Settled, sensible.
CLAUDIA: Female, 40s-50s, fading but still popular rock star a la Debbie Harry.
THEO: Male, 40s-50s, Maddie’s husband.
(It’s the intent that Jenny and Petra look and act similar to Maddie and Claudia, as younger versions of them.)
