The past informing the present is a recurring theme in our upcoming Season of Evolution at Manhattan Theatre Works. With our mainstage DARK WATER we revisit the Louisiana oil spill to understand the current ramifications of a man made disaster, and we do the same Monday, September 23rd with RE-WORKS: THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR.
Four intrepid Newborn Festival winning playwrights: Kimberly del Busto, Carol Carpenter, Cody Daigle and Riti Sachdeva, draw inspiration from the poetry of Miguel Hernandez, the paintings of Juan Genovés, the photography of Robert Capa and thesounds of flamenco, to warn, inspire and create change with plays that commemorate the Spanish Civil War.
At the heart of The Spanish Civil War was a group that wanted separation of church and state and a group that did not. Sound familiar? It is often viewed as a precursor of the Second World War.
Join us as we kickstart our journey of theatrically retelling history.
Tickets are only $20 and proceeds will benefit our new programming and mainstage production of DARK WATER.
We encourage you to get tickets earlier rather than later since one night only events tend to sell-out and we wouldn't want you to miss this.
