Tell us about your play:
Light and Noise and Bees and Boys is about an elderly lesbian who had a stroke, and who has sporadic memory loss regarding most of the previous 30 years, including the fact that she divorced her husband and came out of the closet. Meanwhile her son from her first marriage has made use of her memory loss and a hospital loophole to kidnap her to see if he can reconnect with the mother he doesn't remember.
What are your goals with the Newborn Festival:
This play has been in development for a couple of years and had a previous staged reading, last year. I'm focusing on refining the play and making some of the exposition and timeline information clear to the audience.
Most interesting feedback you've received from an audience member:
A very nice out-of-town couple who saw my play 1460 Sketches of Your Left Hand last Summer, who e-mailed me through my website to say it was one of the best pieces of theatre they'd seen on their trip. They just e-mailed me again last week to say they were coming to town again and to ask if I had anything up or any recommendations.
How would you like to be remembered?
As a pretty great playwright. :)
