Role: Dr. Alan Campbell
How did you get started in theatre:
I was eight and my mom signed me up for a community school acting class with an amazing, tabasco-haired, older lady named Ms. Fritze. I stayed with her for several years, progressing from Cinderella's Prince to MacBeth. I was hooked, and also met one of my best friends. From that point on, we were putting on shows in our living rooms and backyards almost every week...and haven't stopped since!
What excites you about The Picture of Dorian Gray:
I adore period pieces. Period. But I also love that Glory's adaptation highlights the intrigue of homosexuality in a time where such lifestyles were unspeakable. Uncovering Alan's journey of discovery as a young gay Victorian male has been challenging and exciting (and as of writing this I am STILL finding new things about him!) That, and the cast and crew are fabulous! I am learning so much watching my fellow actors at work.
If you could have 5min with Oscar Wilde you would...
Oh my... I'm a married man! Seriously though... I would try to tell him as much as possible about all the great gay heroes and groundbreakers who came after him, and let him know he was a stepping-stone in a long march to equality and understanding.
Don't miss Christopher Leidenfrost as Dr. Alan Campbell in MTWorks' THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. Adapted and directed by Glory Kadigan.
