When did you know you wanted to be an actor?
I've always known I wanted to be an actor, and I made it known to everyone around me at a very young age. At age twelve, I was lucky enough to find an excellent acting teacher who put me on a stage, and I never looked back.
What attracted you to Sweet, Sweet Spirit?
Carol's writing really drew me to this project. The people she has created here are "real." I'm not saying this is based on true events; that I don't know. What I mean is these characters are "real" in the sense that they are flawed and complex and full of contradictions. My character, Jimmy, is arguably the villain of the piece. He does despicable things, but Carol has managed to give even him some faint glimmers of humanity. These are going to be tough shoes for me to walk in every night, but it's an important story that needs to be told. And I fell in love with my cast mates at our first table read. They blew me away.
One guilty pleasure:
Ha...I'm going to plead the Fifth. A man must retain an air of mystery. In other words, I feel too guilty to discuss it.
If you could get anyone to see the show, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Well, that's a tough one. My sentimental answer is my grandmother who passed away ten years ago. She was always one of my biggest fans, so it would be great to have her in the audience.
